Woohoo!

I'm transfered to Houston and I have to shutdown my aquarium. The only thing that was bothering me is giving away my corals to some moron who would kill them in a few weeks.

I found the solution: they will return to the reef!

Actually the artificial reef located 2km off-shore of the Burj Al Arab hotel.

  • 2x 4000 l/h Tunze Turbelle pumps, pulsed on electronic controller
  • 2x Eheim 1060 (2200 l/h) for sump return, alternated every 6 hours, front return
  • 400W BLV/Ushio 10,000K Metal Halide on tar ballast
  • automatic water top-off using a water level sensor
  • calcium addition and alkalinity maintenance using a Nilsen reactor providing fresh kalkwasser (calcium hydroxide solution) to replace all evaporated water
  • computer power supply fan to cool down the water
Refugium
  • 40 cm cube, about 64 l
  • fed by a 1200 l/h @ 0 m powerhead
  • gravity return to the main tank
